An easy recipe to draw yourself a beautiful bath
Allow yourself some time out: follow this simple recipe with just a few ingredients and pamper yourself with an incredibly soothing bath – you won’t regret it!
Balancing work and family while still taking care of your own needs is not easy. Certainly you’ve heard it before: to be able to give to others you first have to fill your own cup.
There are many ways in which you can release tension (including yoga), but this time I have a simple herbal bath for stressed moms for you. Read on to learn how to prepare it at home.
Materials you’ll need for the herbal bath
- A large jar, preferably a dark glass container to preserve the herbal mix and protect it from UV light.
- A muslin bag or gauze handkerchief. This will act as a large tea bag and prevent the herbs from clogging the drain.
- A sticker to indicate date and ingredients.
Ingredients
- 3 parts chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla)
- 2 parts calendula (Calendula officinalis)
- 1 part lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)
I prefer to use organically sourced herbs whenever possible. I like brands like Sonnentor (Germany) and Kräuterlokal (Switzerland). You can also find them in health food shops.
Directions
- Mix the herbs in the indicated proportions in the jar. Place two handfuls into a cotton muslin bag or gauze handkerchief, tie it to the nozzle of the bath tub.
- Let hot water run through if for a few minutes.
- Adjust the water temperature and let the bag float in the tub as you bathe.
- To transform your bath into a complete wellness program, add 1-2 cups of Epsom salt (Magnesium sulfate) to the water and soak in for at least 15 minutes.
- You can store the remaining herbs in the jar properly labelled. Keep it in a dark, cool space away from children and pets.
